The USA Today newspaper dated Tuesday, March 8, 2016, Section B, noted the top five most stressful jobs. I wasn’t surprised to see that an Event Coordinator was ranked number five on the list. Placing confidence and trust into the hands of a professional to create an atmosphere or look that reflects your personality or business culture will create many sleepless nights for the Event Coordinator. They also eat, sleep and dream of how your event or wedding will unfold even with their extensive experience, a history of many successful events and hundreds of templates to help them remember the details.
How does an Event Coordinator handle the stress? Up-to-date notes, checking and rechecking measurements with several hundred emails sent to the venue, vendors, chef, photographer, printer, musician, and rental company (just to name a few) with just as many personalized phone calls confirming deliveries, special orders and cake flavors with coordinating frosting. An Event Coordinator needs to be flexible with a ‘Plan B’ in their pocket if the initial idea falls through.
You will not hear of the fires they put out. You won’t see them behind the scenes straightening silverware of folding napkins. You will smell the aroma of the flowers as you enter the banquet room and taste the magnificent meal presented and served hot to each guest. It’s what an Event Coordinator does so you won’t have to = stress out.
